Congratulations to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who not only made history as the first Latina to win a New York congressional primary campaign, this is also her first time ever running for any public office. The twenty-eight year old (millennial) won by upset against the incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley who’s served in congress for 10-terms; who a shoe was also in to win. Though, Crowely did not seem to take Ocasio-Cortez’s running serious when he sent a “stand-in” to represent him in their last debate last which, most likely caused the overall shift in voters.
Not to mention, the demographics of the Bronx and Queens areas in which, Ocasio-Cortez would be representing has been changing for over the last few decades and this millennial just solidified that inevitable reality! If this jolt of history making and movement forward doesn’t get you excited and pumped for the November General Elections then…WAKE UP! Let’s get out and VOTE!
“This is not an end, this is the beginning. This is the beginning because the message that we sent the world tonight is that it’s not OK to put donors before your community, Ocasio-Cortez told roaring supporters on Tuesday night.”
