We’re recognizing Queen Lauryn Hill today, this being International Women’s Day will be celebrated for creating an album, a musical work of art and a project that will continue to be a metaphorical platform for women’s strength, resilience, beauty, self-love and rebellion; that can never be duplicated. Perhaps that’s why Hill’s debut album (and only LP) The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is still being played on repeat rotation in cars, bedrooms and within DJ booths at your favorite radio station to club twenty years later.

August 25th, 1998 to be exact; the miseducation was in fact a reconfiguration and full blown evaluation of what we were learning and continue to digest especially as young women and girls, men and human beings. Today, this precious and sacred day of women’s appreciation all over the world, we encourage you to listen to the women around you, speak the words you wish to be heard, sing them if you can and raise your voice, yourselves and take action!

For this day of women is not a day of rest, it is a day of forthright promise and achievement yet to be seen or perhaps even dreamed. Thank you Lauryn Hill 👑 for blessing our ears twenty years ago with the fire 🔥 to prove the notion of “How you gone win if you ain’t right within?” Look in the mirror you are a beautiful being with massive potential, dream it, go hard and do it!
