After having to postpone her original headlining appearance with Coachella last year due to being pregnant and having two beautiful twins Sir and Rumi Carter; Beyoncé, more than made up for her rescheduled performance and it was spectacular. What we just watched, just experience was something of pure womanly magic brought to us in the form of Queen Beyoncé. Her headlining performance for the 2018 Coachella (or what it has been coined "Beychella")broke barriers, brought firsts and perhaps set the bar so high that she'll have to do just comeback next year for 2019 and do it all over again. There is just something about this woman's ability to be an absolute performer with consistent precision that no one, even the ones who don't care for her music or Beyoncé as an artist cannot deny.
The woman is an anomaly, there hasn't been anyone able to put on such an entertaining, jam pack performance of such epic fortitude since Michael Jackson; no wonder the term Queen is used in her presence, she truly deserves the crown of performance. Tonight's show was not only the first headlining by a black woman it was also the first time a girl group (Destiny's Child) has ever performed as a headline for Coachella as well. This was a teachable moment in more ways than one for the normal festival goers of Coachella and the world that was watching. Believe you me, everyone was watching at some point.
Beyoncé entered the stage paying homage to the Queen Nefertiti dressed in a head-to-toe attire inspired by ancient Egypt and continued on that same wavelength for the entire show. All of her looks were created and designed by Olivier Rousteing for Balmain; in each looks moment she showed love to historical artist and figures like Malcom X, singing the National Black Anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing" by James Weldon Johnson and Nina Simone. Not to mention her numerous samples iconic hip-hop and music artist in homage from The Jackson 5, to Outkast, Master P. to even the 1970's Berry Gordy classic The Wiz.
Beyoncé shared a moment and a glimpse into the many traditions of black culture and black southern culture; specifically focused on the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) homecoming traditions. Including her big 170 marching band, the probate section with the fraternity guys of "BΔK" steps and the down to the dancers.
