The Carters have done it again! Beyoncé’s second Halloween costume included her hubby Jay-Z and paid homage to Black athletic icons in American History. Together both Beyoncé and Jay-Z costumes were an ode to African American Olympic giants of '80s eras with Florence Griffith Joyner aka Flo Jo and the '60s era with Tommie Smith. Flo Jo who was a 4x Olympic gold medalist was known not only for her speed on the track where she was coined "the fastest woman alive;" she was also known for her iconic, uniquely creative style, down to her long vibrant fingernails. Beyoncé’s rendition hit the nail completely on the head with this one. Much like she often does, as her tributes are always dead on.
Jay-Z’s execution of Tommie Smith’s iconic look and protest pose after winning the 200-meter sprint finals for the gold medal in 1968 will forever be iconic. They both took Halloween’s cake! On top of what seemed like a truly iconic costume party; The Boo Party in which, they threw along with Kelly Rowland and her husband Tim Witherspoon on Halloween night.
