There's something about the holiday season that puts us in a festive mood and nothing's more merrier than some wintry eye-candy to warm us up. We present our Annual 12 Days of Midnight Snacks to celebrate and spread a little holiday visual cheer; with our list of the finest, coolest and most notable men of 2017. Stay tuned daily through Christmas Day to see our top picks of the year and enjoy!
On the 1st day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me… Tristan "Mack" Wilds. Whether you've watched him during his early days on HBO’s critically acclaimed hit series The Wire, on the aughts version of 90210, in Adele’s "Hello" visual or watched him in the fresh take on the beginning of '90s hip-hop in VH1’s The Breaks; you know when you watch Wilds in anything it's going to be good, dramatic and charming. We've watched both him and his career continue to grow throughout Hollywood and this year he's graced the TV screen again in the hard hitting Fox criminal mini-series drama, Shots Fired as Deputy Joshua Beck. We wanted to show him some holiday appreciation, as our first SNACK on our Holiday Edition list. While we're sure he's gearing up for some cool projects in 2018. For now you can catch him and all his thirst trapping photos on Instagram. We can’t wait to see where his hustle takes him next, for it's sure to be litty!
On the 2nd day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me… Jaden Smith. The now 19 year-old style star, actor and promising rapper has been ruling all of 2017. From his fashionable risks on major magazine covers, modeling for luxury designer giants like Chanel and Louis Vuitton to his funky playful colorful fades (you know from ruby red to bold and buttery blonde)! Jaden continues to explore his expansive music taste with his new album that dropped in early November entitled Syre that is really showing off his lyrical ability and musical juice. The album worth taking a listen to, its flames. Next up for 2018 Smith is in production for a new film starring as Cara Delevingne’s boyfriend in romantic drama Life in a Year. We can’t wait to see where Smith’s fresh style and handsome face will be seen next.
On the 3rd day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me… G-Eazy. The rising rapper continues to carve out his name in the world of hip hop; since, the release his third studio album entitle the Beautiful and Damned last week and is now topping the iTune charts there is no telling where this will take him. Not to mention that he’s been killing the airwaves with his song “No Limit” collaboration with the trap Selena aka Cardi B. The glossy and suave Californian born and Oakland raised rapper has been touring all over the world and is making dents across the country and majorly across the pond; where he’s recently scored an MTV Europe award for Favorite Hip Hop Artist. His vintage ‘50s bad boy style goes noticed as much as his music and we’ve got our eyes on where the New Year takes him.
On the 4th day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me… Miguel. The King of War and Leisure himself, we’re excited to crown our fourth snack, the electro sex and x alt R&B crooner some holiday praise. Miguel has had a hell of year with his latest contribution to the music world in the critically acclaimed and now Grammy winning album ‘Wild Heart’ serving us delicious sex, funk and rock n roll on tracks that tantalized (and still is) our eardrums. Including the psychedelic visual aesthetic that only Miguel can bring— in his millennial flare. Staying true to his Californian roots he debuted his fourth studio album earlier this month; a playfully poignant and dare we say ode to the iconic Prince with War and Leisure. Making it an absolute must for everyone to partake in Miguel’s musical evolution. His rock star style is becoming truly distinguished. He’s a wonder in his own lane and we’ll be watching as he hits the stage during his concert stint ongoing now. There are sure to be more wins and many more deserving Grammy’s to come. We just can’t get enough, of this true art dealer and badass Miguel.
On the 5th day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me... Christian Combs. The apple of Sean "Diddy, or Puffy or Brother Love” Combs eye; his youngest born son who’s the splitting image of Diddy no less is coming into his own at 19 years-old. From producing and rapping in his own very New York hip hop videos, modeling on runways for Dolce and Gabbana, to being alongside his father in the pages of Vogue. This young, handsome and dapper guy is surely walking behind the right hustling footsteps and is working hard to get there too. We can’t wait to see where his legacy and vision takes him.
On the 6th day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me the mysterious, genius and super clean... Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino. The actor, rapper, writer and director is easily having the best 2017 ever! Fresh off of the success of his now award winning Atlanta series for FX (from Critics Choice to the Golden Globes) where he also made history as the first black writer/ director to win a Golden Globe for a comedy. Not to mention, his pivotal earth-shaking LP Awaken My Love is now nominated for the Grammys Album of the Year Award. Glover is also going to be Lando Calrissian in the next Star Wars franchise, preparing for season two of Atlanta coming next year (February 2018 to be exact), oh and he’s playing Simba for the live action version of Disney's The Lion King 2019! Yes, alongside Queen Beyoncé as Nyla, what a dream that will be to watch. We could go on but yeah, Donald Glover can clearly do no wrong in our book— his eclectic, clean and sometimes southern athleisurely style is "peanut butter chocolate cake with Kool-Aid.”
On the 7th day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me Colin Kaepernick. The unforgettable quarterback with a political, community and civil rights for the people conscience. By taking a knee during the NFL’s National Anthem in protest against the severely unbalanced judicial system; with a target on the unjust murders of black men and women by the hands of police, that continue to happen with no real consequences or justice. Kaepernick put his career in football on the line for our voices to be heard, for the message to be sent around this country loud and clear. Unfortunately, he has since been unable to secure a new team as a free agent, after his contract was up with his former team the San Francisco 49er's. Not letting that stop his mission for the people, Kaepernick has upwards of $1 million dollars towards "organizations working in oppressed communities," and just copped the Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Award given to him by Queen Beyoncé. Clearly despite the racists and truly ignorant people in this country who don’t care enough to read and learn why Colin Kaepernick kneeled for racial injustice of Black Americans in respect for this country and its flag; he is still shining with our respect and admiration for the work he continues to do. A woke babe forever.
On the 8th day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me... A$AP Rocky If he’s not rapping, out here being the super dapper, street style pro on a supreme wave. Rocky should be crowned as Hip Hops most stylish rapper of 2017. From Vogue Magazine to Paris Runways, rocking Gucci everything to his partnership with Guess that sold out in mere hours over the past spring and summer. He's found his niche in fashion and does it effortlessly. Pair that with his New York persona and slick verses on any of your favs songs and Mr. Rocky has had one hell of a successful year.
On the 9th day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me... Anthony Ramos. We spotted this guy in his now soon to be iconic role as Mars Blackmon in the new Netflix Series of Spike Lee’s 1988 original feature She’s Gotta Have It, when he instantly stole our hearts with his honest, likable and funny portrayal of director Lee’s infamous character (that he originally played). Ramos stole the show and outside of this rising series, he’s an original cast member of Lin-Manuel Miranda's renowned broadway hit Hamilton, where he played dual roles as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton. The New York born and raised triple threat is sure to be seen and heard a lot more in 2018 and we can’t wait! “Please baby, baby, baby please!"
On the 10th day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me...Luke James. His suave and classic R&B persona was taken up a few notches this year where he revealed not only his abilities to become a household name in R&B like the likes of Marvin Gaye and Teddy Pendergrass he’s rapidly transitioning his acting chops into Hollywood respectively. Since, he rocked his portrayal in the critically acclaimed biopic miniseries about the famed R&B group New Edition as power singer Johnny Gill we couldn't wait to see where he'd land next. Now he can be seen in the hit Fox show Star acting and performing. While James entices our eyes he continues to mesmerize us sonically with his hot and alluring track Drip, all we can say is... where’s the video?
On the 11th day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks Rebel Muse gave to me… Keith Powers. You may know his face from the riveting biopic for N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton movie in 2015; though, many of us got the full picture of how talented and hot Powers is from his portrayal as Ronnie DeVoe in BET’s epic miniseries biography of the iconic R&B group New Edition. Since then we’ve continued to watch Powers blossoming career as he plays the slick young Hollywood heartthrob Reggie in the Freeform network's Famous in Love series drama. While Powers remains playfully charming through his numerous Instagram selfies he still maintains a socially and community conscious. It’s easy to see how Keith Powers doesn't take himself too serious while, leaving room to be adamant about his convictions. Which is a good balance to have in Hollywood; for his future is sure to be illuminating!
On the 12th day of 12 Days of Midnight Snacks gave to me… Jesse Williams. Who makes our final snack of the year! If you follow his tweets (as we do on a daily) you know that he is more than just a handsome face. His often-poignant and outspoken words against the injustices towards the Black and disenfranchised people of our society are always righteous. Williams is a passionate, radical for freedom and justice for all. Plus we now welcome him to the tech world with his very popular new app Blebrity riding off the coolness of his mobile gif plugin Eborji which keeps all of our snaps on point. He's still very delicious in the role of Dr. Jackson Avery on Grey's Anatomy (will his character get with Dr. Maggie Pierce next season?) Jesse Williams will hopefully continue to further our minds and the world encouragingly for all of our futures. We appreciate ya and thank you for the delicious snack worthy dreams you provide. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Rebels and to all a good night! ✨
