For some people, the first date comes when they are high school teenagers just beginning to learn what they like about each other; for others, it comes in adulthood after the awkward and hyper-judgmental years of adolescence have passed and attractions are more overt and transparent. Then, there are those of us who get to dress up and be escorted to a chaperoned formal amongst our youthful peers, where cookies and punch are served and the music prompts all the disguised shyness to dissipate from your body by way of our rad dance moves.
Many stay-away camp goers can attest: the Dinner Dance at summer camp was the first taste of romance we experienced where going on a date didn't seem like some stuffy, adult thing to do when the kids are away, but rather the way you learned about a crush and sharing with them, and how to let the duds down easy.
