In the world of Industry, Harper Stern (Myha’la) has established herself as the HBIC. Harper in three words: rebellious, tactful and witty. Those traits are evident in her character and style development over the show’s first three seasons.

In Season 4, Harper appears with microbraids, black YSL pumps, a three-piece custom suit with a matching double-breasted coat, and a date-link watch, paired with a Chanel Boy bag. Her style has evolved significantly since viewers first saw her in an ill-fitting suit, fuzzy box braids to natural pixie cuts and kitten heels.

The new wardrobe reflects a newly defined identity, with Harper Stern now calling the shots at her own firm. When she was last seen in Season 3, she emerged like a phoenix from the ashes of the Pierpoint firm and from what remained of her long afro in Season 2.

In Season 1, Harper was an underdog with nothing to lose and everything to prove. Since then, she has learned how to get what she wants through both intellect and sex appeal. That evolution became more apparent in Season 4, Episode 2, when she arrived in an all-black David Koma racer-top crinoline dress, styled with an 18th-century velvet boned corset and Roger Vivier pumps. While others opted for color, Harper stood out as the black cat of the ball. All black is a powerhouse statement.

As a Black Woman in a powerful financial character role (Myha’la) not only provides a look into the very real stylistic experiences of a Black woman on Wall Street (although she’s in London) but she’s also creating a visual imagery and mapping of how a Black woman with money and corporate power really gets to show off her strength, tenacity, intelligence while securing bags like infinity stones.

Her style of the new season is reflecting a confidence Harper has always possessed, dating back to scenes of her watching stocks and ordering room service from her hotel room. Now, her bank account supports that confidence. As the season continues, viewers can expect more striking fashion choices as the story of a woman who came from nothing unfolds as she builds her financial empire.
