These modern day daily scaries weren’t at all as blatant as they are now especially, with the magnification of social media and internet news. Did Elon Musk purchase Twitter for $44 billion dollars? Why, yes...yes he did. Can we all collectively think of 44 billion ways to spend $44 billion dollars other than buying Twitter. Yes, I believe we could. Did Kevin McCarthy lose 14 times before becoming the Speaker of The House? Is Covid still barreling through our daily lives? Did we just have another heavy dose of “trauma porn” with Tyre Nichols? There is still war on earth, the sky is falling and it’s on metaphorical fire. Avoiding the ability to sound overly cynical, I figured it's best to focus on what I can do as singular individual to get through however long this era of madness will last. Listen, there are no signs of it stopping- yet.
I can't help but think the world has gone through an abundant amount of majorly horrid, unthinkable times in the past. And, we the current humans walking this planet are no different from them then, we just have better technology and prayerfully more sense (that’s debatable).
With that said, this story is about how I believe we can honestly look at the ability to be more direct in our lives for ourselves and the people around us. Which will help us become better people. If you’ve been in an office/ workplace setting at any given time, there is always someone to take directives from in any capacity. Although, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. What I want to dive into is directing your own life. Can those same concepts be applied to personal development and determining which direction you’d like to go moving forward? It’s one thing to have personal goals and set objectives but directiveness may just be the epitome of the ballsy initiative we can use to make it more artful in the approach to personal success.
Merriam Webster's definition of Directiveness:
: the quality of being directive
specifically : the character of being determined in direction of development (as toward definitely organized structure)
If I can think of my life as an organized company structure could I increase the quality of the way in which I develop my goals for success? Placing the most important parts of my personal organizations structure as priority to direct my focus on what matters within each frame of the process. It sounds very structured however, let's look at it from a Venn Diagram point of view.
A Venn Diagram can be personally useful in laying out the objectives. I wish to focus on to becoming more direct in my life. Bringing forth the notion of a strategic personal mapping. Which then allows for visual accountability and a hopeful driven motivation to meet my goals head on.
THE IDEA: Can the use a of Venn diagram for personal objectives in directiveness, assist in interpersonal
reflection and growth?
RESEARCH: Gratitude, humility, societal and technical complexities, and it’s personal impact on my mental health. Which in turn, provides the ability to be more direct in my daily needs.
MY GOAL: Personal elevation, mental relaxation, and the beauty in imperfection. Being more direct to avoid miscommunication and procrastination in progressing towards my goals.
Keeping in mind that nothing happens overnight and this type of form structure and idea for personal progress, will take some time to get acclimated to. Nevertheless, it's worth a real try to see where it takes my objectives and goals. While also allowing myself to have a clearer more directive view of my life. In an experiment that is usually used successfully in a corporate setting, so why not? Stay tuned for an update down the line, perhaps in a couple of months.
